Want to take a break from Instagram? That is quite reasonable. Instead of deleting your app or profile, try temporarily deactivating your Instagram account. When you can return within a month, everything will be as you leave the social network.
How to Temporarily Disable Your Instagram Account
Temporarily disabling your Instagram account will erase your profile from your social network for the amount of time you want off-site. Your Instagram URL will become invalid, users will not be able to find you in search, and they will not be able to contact you. These features will be restored when your account is reactivated.
You can temporarily deactivate your Instagram account regardless of whether it is a personal account, a content creator account, or a business account.
It’s strange that you can’t disable your account from the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android. You will need to use the Instagram site instead.
Start Instagram on your desktop or smartphone browser, and sign in with the account you want to disable.
Next, go to the Profile tab and select the “Edit Profile” option.
Alternatively, you can use this link to go directly to the “Edit Profile” screen.
Here, scroll down and select the “Temporarily deactivate my account” link.
Instagram will now ask you why your account has been deactivated. You can select a reason from the drop-down list. If you don’t want to provide a specific reason, select the “Something else” option.
After making the selection, enter your password on Instagram.
For the second time, click the blue “Temporarily disable account” button at the bottom of the screen. Instagram will ask you to confirm for the third time that you wish to continue. From the pop-up window, click the Yes button.
Your Instagram account will now be disabled and you will be signed out of the Instagram app on your smartphone. To confirm, you can try to search for your Instagram username. Instagram will tell you either that the user is not present or that nothing has been published yet.
How to Reactivate Your Instagram Account
You can return and reactivate your failed Instagram account at any time. All you’ll need is your username and password. If you forget your password, you can try resetting it.
Open Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device or visit Instagram site.
Here, sign in with your Instagram username and password.
Immediately, your account will be restored to its previous glory. For added security, you must change your Instagram password after you reactivate your account.
